"Be Encouraged"

Topic Scriptures: 2 Corinthians 4:16-18

I. Do Not Lose Heart (v. 16)

The "we" in the scripture are a renewed, born-again people.

We can have hope not only in His return, but in our present circumstances as well.

The reason we don't have victory is due to living in the flesh instead of by the spirit.

Discouragement is a state of mind. It's according to your perspective.

II. Understand There is a Greater Glory (v. 17)

Our afflictions are momentary. None of our afflictions can compare to when we allow Christ to have control over our lives.

A life not surrendered to Christ will never experience peace in the storm.

The spiritual life is designed to get us ready for eternity.

When we walk in the blessings of God, it should change our perspective on things.

Romans 8:28

Everything God does in our lives is for a purpose!

III. Get Your Eyes on the Unseen (v. 18)

Looking at what can be seen in the natural will discourage you at some point.

Look to the things that are unseen/spiritual/eternal and God will begin to work in your life.

"God's Sanctifying Advice"

Topic Scriptures: Leviticus 20:1-8

JEHOVAH MEKADDESH - The Lord who sanctifies

I. We Should Always Take God Seriously (vv. 1-6)

If we do not take God seriously, there are consequences for our actions.

If someone speaks against the Word of God, they are against Him.

We must stand for God!

The book of Leviticus is God's "no trespassing sign"

Hebrews is to the New Testament as Leviticus is to the Old Testament.

Leviticus is considered the "Book of Life" explaining how to live.

God is preparing people to enter and live in the promise land.

Three Words that Appear in Leviticus:

1. Common - that which God created to be ordinary or regular

2. Profane - that which was polluted, defiled, or contaminated

3. Sacred - that which is special or unique to God

1 Timothy 4:1-5

God is the only one who sanctifies. Sanctification means to be set apart.

II. Learn to Hold to God's Standards (v. 22)

The world / the very thing we're chasing after can "spit us out" if we aren't holding on to God.

III. Trust God's Sanctification Process (vv. 7-8)

The process where God sets us apart to be unique and separated from worldliness.

Worldliness: Adopting a world view of a society that leaves God out.

If we adapt to the world, we lose God.

We don't call sin what God calls it, so we can't cure it.

1 John 2

We must consecrate ourselves.

God does not sanctity us until we decide to be consecrated.

We must choose to be set apart [by God]!

When we resist consecration we lose the experience of sanctification.
